Walnut Barndominium
Architectural Design Overview
This one-story barndominium floor plan combines influences from nature and modern design elements to create a bright, clean, and cozy vibe. To see what we mean, look no further than the green-accented wood exterior and the concrete floors and cathedral ceilings inside.
Its ranch-style layout is perfectly at home on a long, narrow lot in both country and city settings. As designed, there is an outdoor covered seating area in the front, but if your lot allows, we can add side doors in the living room for easy access to a side yard. Want us to reposition the house instead? No problem! We’re happy to orient it in any way that enables you to take full advantage of the space your lot provides.
When you enter the house, you’re welcomed by a full mudroom entryway that leads into a spacious kitchen. The adjacent dining and living spaces are designed with an open floor plan and feature 12-foot cathedral ceilings.
There’s an office space off of the living room that can either be removed from the design if you wish, or can function as a guest room or library. Continuing down the hallway, there are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry nook. At the end of the hallway, you’ll find the primary suite, which is made up of the main bedroom, a walk-in closet and full bathroom complete with both a tub and shower.
This house has a slab foundation, which means there’s no need for entryway stairs as it sits right at ground level. It also means there’s no basement. And thanks to its simple roofline, the size of the floor plan can also be expanded or reduced in any direction.
